A landslide and washout on the Mil'kovo - Klyuchi - Ust-Kamchatsk highway in Kamchatka Krai, Ust-Kamchatsk, has caused significant damage, leading to repairs and a partial closure of the vital transport route.

The incident occurred on June 24th, causing a roadbed washout that resulted in a full road closure. Alexander Safonov, Minister of Transport and Road Construction of Kamchatka Krai, announced that the repairs are still ongoing at km 207-208, with eight pieces of equipment and road workers on site.

Contractors are currently filling in gullies, cleaning ditches, and building a protective sand-gravel embankment to address the issues caused by the landslide and high meltwater levels. Special attention is being paid to the situation to decide whether to open or close the road to passenger buses.

The current restrictions on all types of traffic will remain in effect until 10:00 AM tomorrow. However, the exact timeline for the reopening of the highway is yet to be determined.

For up-to-date and specific details, we recommend checking official Kamchatka regional transport or road maintenance authorities’ announcements or contacting local emergency services directly. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.

The partial closure of the vital transport route in Kamchatka Krai is not only affecting the transportation sector, but it could also impact the industry and finance industries, as supplies and goods might experience delays. Due to the repairs ongoing at km 207-208, it is uncertain when the finance flows related to transportation and cargo deliveries will stabilize.
