Winter supply of coal delivered to Northern Khabarovsk region
The remote settlements in the Tuguro-Chumikan District and other northern areas of the Khabarovsk Krai have faced a unique challenge this summer – heavy ice in the Sea of Okhotsk. This has disrupted sea transport of crucial cargo, including coal, essential for heating during the harsh winter months.
Under these challenging circumstances, the local municipal administration of the Ayan-Maysky district has taken up the responsibility of transporting and delivering coal to these remote territories. The first coal-carrying vessel of the season in the Tuguro-Chumikan District was able to break through the ice only in late June, marking a significant milestone in the delivery campaign.
However, the weather conditions were relatively favourable for tankers and barges with coal in the Ayan-Maysky District, allowing for a smooth delivery process. As a result, approximately 11,000 tons of coal have been delivered, which is similar to the amount delivered last year. The annual fuel supply was delivered to the Ayan-Maysky District by the end of June.
Despite the ice in the Sea of Okhotsk, the necessary fuel reserve for the upcoming winter will be established in all municipalities of the Tuguro-Chumikan District. This assures the residents of these remote settlements that they will have the necessary heating resources for the winter months.
The campaign to deliver essential supplies to the north of the Khabarovsk region is nearing completion, with all northern boiler houses in remote settlements of Khabarovsk Krai currently fully stocked with coal reserves. Navigation and the northern delivery in Khabarovsk Krai this year took place under different conditions depending on the territory, but the efforts of the local administrations have ensured that the regions will be prepared for the winter ahead.
