Waterfront development plans get the green light from the Management Committee
The city of Nordhorn took a significant step forward in its urban development plans on September 17, as the Administrative Committee approved the planning status for the highly anticipated "City by the Water" project.
The decision was made following a previous meeting of the Urban Development Committee (UDC) on August 25, where the committee made its decision on the project. The implementation of the project's various sub-areas will now follow the draft documents presented in the UDC. These documents, including details about the Heathway development from Mathildenstraße to Gildehauser Weg, are available for public viewing here.
In addition to the City by the Water project, the administration is also focusing on improving the city's infrastructure. One of the key initiatives is the search for a permanent location for a second accessible toilet facility in the city center. The administration is currently tasked with renting a container facility and setting it up at location 3, to replace the toilet facilities at the ZOB, until a new facility at the city harbor is completed.
Two other projects, "Expansion of Jantje-Anleger" and "Lighting including Electrical Works," are also set to move forward. The tenders for these projects will be issued after the approval of the funding, but the exact timing remains undisclosed at this point.
Lastly, the Traffic and Events Association will be moving to the "City Hall Downtown," further enhancing the city's vibrant downtown area.
This series of developments marks an exciting time for the city of Nordhorn, as it continues to shape its future with ambitious urban development projects and infrastructure improvements.
