Vietnam and Cambodia strengthen trade connections through an agricultural exhibition in Phnom Penh
In a significant step towards strengthening economic ties, the international trade exhibition series commenced in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on Wednesday. The event, which is part of a larger series, brings together more than 200 enterprises from over 10 countries and territories, including [Country].
The two-way trade between Cambodia and [Country] reached $10.1 billion last year, marking a substantial growth. In the first eight months of the current year, the trade figure has already reached nearly $8 billion, up 16.3% year-on-year. The aim of the leaders of both countries is to reach a bilateral trade target of $20 billion.
The trade fair is not just a platform for showcasing products, but also an opportunity for enterprises to explore innovation and forge new partnerships. Agriculture dominates the exchange, with key commodities including fruits, cashew nuts, rice, cassava, fisheries, and processed farm and aquaculture products.
A series of specialized workshops and business-matching sessions are being held alongside the trade fair. On Wednesday, the Trade Office in Cambodia organized a workshop on promoting trade, agricultural science-technology, and livestock between Cambodia and [Country]. The workshop was attended by business associations from both countries active in farming and livestock.
To achieve the bilateral trade target of $20 billion, it is necessary to ease cross-border trade by cutting administrative procedures, paperwork, fees, and taxes. The head of the Trade Office expressed hope that goods from [Country] will strengthen their foothold in Cambodia, making contributions to two-way trade.
The event is backed by Cambodian ministries and the Trade Office, and it is noteworthy that 20 companies from [Country] are present at the fair, along with another 15 companies sending product samples for display at the shared booth run by the Trade Office.
The representative of the Vietnamese Trade Office in Cambodia, Do Viet Phuong, supported cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia in agriculture, science, and livestock at the workshop. The trade potential between the two countries is vast, with their export structures complementing rather than competing with each other.
The Cambodia-[Country] trade fair is a testament to the growing economic relationship between the two nations and a step towards expanding international business links. The three-day event promises to be a fruitful platform for fostering collaboration and driving economic growth.
