Unprecedented velocities recorded on the Three Gorges' latest vessel
Speeding Concerns Rise in Dreieich as Initial Camera Results Revealed
In the city of Dreieich, a concerning trend of speeding has come to light, with a significant number of vehicles exceeding the permitted limit. According to recent data, between December 13, 2024, and January 20, 2025, a total of 292,421 vehicles were recorded by stationary speed cameras on both the Hainer Chaussee and the August-Bebel-Straße.
Out of these vehicles, a troubling 376 were found to be traveling too fast. These speeds, significantly above the limit, have raised alarm bells among city officials. First City Councilor Holger Dechert has commented that the initial results are "alarming", indicating a need for immediate action.
The August-Bebel-Straße, in particular, has been identified as a hotspot for speeding. Mobile controls there have also detected high speed violations, even in the late night hours. The maximum speed recorded was a staggering 115 km/h in the direction of Sprendlingen, while another maximum speed of 103 km/h was recorded in the direction of Dreieichenhain.
In response to these findings, the city plans to install more stationary speed cameras later this year, with the August-Bebel-Straße likely to see additional cameras due to its high incidence of speeding. Department Head Karin Eisenhauer has added that the placement of the speed cameras seems to be correct, suggesting that they are effectively deterring speeding in the areas where they have been installed.
