UAE's Major Sugar Company Expands Operations in Kazakhstan's Domestic Market
"Alright, listen up!"
It's about that sweet business, mate! The UAE's big player in the sugar game, Al Khaleej Sugar, is eyeing Kazakhstan's Almaty Region for its next sugar plant project. This was announced at a chinwag on April 27 between regional governor Marat Sultangaziyev and managing director Sheikh Jamal Al Ghurair.
The proposed plant's location is the city of Konayev, chosen for its top-notch logistics (just like a well-oiled machine). However, there's a potential hiccup with the water supply, and the team's on the hunt for alternate sources.
"Water, water, every bloke's gotta have it!" said Al Ghurair, emphasizing the importance of reliable water supply for the project. He also mentioned they'll be bringing in the best hydrology whizzes to tackle this issue head-on.
To keep things eco-friendly, they're even mulling over building wind power plants to make the entire operation self-sufficient and leave Mother Nature smiling.
"We're aiming to create a fully self-reliant operation that runs on renewable energy, doing our part for the planet," added Al Ghurair.
Al Khaleej Sugar already controls a whopping 3% of the global refined sugar market and runs the world's largest autonomous sugar factory. And King Al Ghurair isn't just about sugar – he's got a successful portfolio spanning from sugary treats to construction and real estate.
The meetings concluded with a decision to rope in expert consultants for a detailed analysis of the region's hydrological resources. This will help develop clever water supply solutions and set the stage for the project's success.
So, keep your eyes peeled for sugar beets sprouting up in Kazakhstan – it's gonna be one sweet project!
