In a significant move, Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer XPeng Motors has announced plans to launch the G7 Super Extended-Range Edition in the first quarter of next year. The new model will feature XPeng's latest extended-range technology, promising a pure electric driving range of approximately 430 kilometers.

The G7, XPeng's latest model, was launched just this July. The G7 Super Extended-Range Edition will build upon the success of the G7, offering an ultra-long range that sets it apart in the EV market.

The G7 Super Extended-Range Edition will be equipped with a 1.5L engine from Harbin Dongan Auto Engine, serving as the range extender. This engine will deliver a maximum power output of 110 kW.

The new model will also utilize an 800-volt high-voltage platform architecture, supporting 5C ultra-fast charging. This means that the G7 Super Extended-Range Edition will be able to charge quickly, providing convenience for its users.

The battery pack capacity of the G7 Super Extended-Range Edition is 55.8 kWh, weighing 397.5 kg. This battery pack, combined with the range extender, will provide the vehicle with an impressive range of up to 430 kilometers.

The G7 Super Extended-Range Edition will be a five-seat SUV, measuring 4,918 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, 1,655 mm in height, and having a wheelbase of 2,890 mm.

In addition to the G7 Super Extended-Range Edition, XPeng Motors also plans to launch extended-range versions of its P7 and P7+ sedans in the future. Earlier today, local media outlet Cailian reported that XPeng Motors will launch an extended-range P7 in 2026, with the hybrid sedan featuring a battery supporting 5C charging rates and an expected range of 400 kilometers.

XPeng Motors is not new to the extended-range EV market. The company's G7 Electric Range Extended Vehicle (EREV) has already appeared in a regulatory catalog released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on September 10. The BEV variant of the G7 starts at RMB 195,800 ($27,490), offering a CLTC range of 602 to 702 kilometers.

The G7 EREV, which boasts an ultra-long pure-electric range of up to 430 kilometers, is not the only extended-range vehicle XPeng Motors is planning. The company's Twitter profile, @XPengMotors, has been actively discussing the extended range capabilities of its vehicles. For instance, a recent tweet by @XPengMotors profilepeng suggests that the G7 EREV may file for additional variants in the future, potentially indicating plans for more extended-range models.

The G7 Super Extended-Range Edition will also feature cutting-edge AI technology, further enhancing its appeal in the competitive EV market. With its extended range and advanced technology, the G7 Super Extended-Range Edition is poised to make a significant impact in the EV industry.

Before the launch of the G7 Super Extended-Range Edition, XPeng Motors will roll out the extended-range version of its P9 MPV in the fourth quarter of this year. The company also plans to launch an extended-range P7+ sedan in 2026.

As XPeng Motors continues to innovate and expand its product line, it is clear that the company is committed to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the EV industry. The launch of the G7 Super Extended-Range Edition is just the latest example of XPeng Motors' dedication to delivering high-quality, extended-range EVs to its customers.
