Transocean Secures $243M in Contracts for Ultra-Deepwater Drillships
Transocean Ltd. (NYSE: RIG) has secured new contract fixtures for two of its ultra-deepwater drillships, the Deepwater Mykonos and the Deepwater Atlas. The deals, worth approximately $243 million in total, will see these vessels operating in Brazil and the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
Petrobras has exercised a 30-day option for the Deepwater Mykonos, contributing around $11 million to Transocean's backlog. This drillship will operate in Brazil, adding to the company's presence in the region.
Meanwhile, bp has exercised a 365-day option for the Deepwater Atlas in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. This contract is worth approximately $232 million and significantly boosts Transocean's backlog. The Deepwater Atlas is one of the most advanced ultra-deepwater drillships, capable of operating in extreme water depths and harsh environments.
Transocean's management team, led by President and CEO Keelan I. Adamson, has overseen these contract fixtures. The team includes Jeremy D. Thigpen as Executive Chair, along with other executives responsible for various aspects of the company's operations and financial management.
These contract fixtures represent a significant boost for Transocean Ltd. They demonstrate the company's ability to secure business in key markets and showcase the capabilities of its ultra-deepwater drillships.
