Traffic Alert: The closure of two lanes on the QEW Niagara-bound Skyway Bridge has been announced

The Ministry of Transportation has announced a lane closure on the Eastbound lanes of the QEW on the Burlington Bay Skyway bridge, scheduled for August 22, 2025. This closure is due to rehabilitation work on the bridge deck.

During the closure, four (4) existing lanes on the bridge will be affected, with two (2) eastbound Niagara-bound lanes closing from 10:00 pm Friday, September 12, to 5:00 am Monday, September 15, 2025. The on-ramp from Eastport Drive to the Niagara-bound Skyway Bridge will also be closed, requiring drivers to access the QEW via Fairview Street/Plains Road or Nikola Tesla Boulevard after the Lift Bridge.

Motorists are advised to plan an alternate route due to expected traffic delays throughout the weekend. Advance signing and notification will be provided to motorists, and updates on the lane closure can also be found on @511Ontario and at http://511on.ca/.

It is important to note that the lane closure is weather dependent, and any changes to the start or end time of the closure will be communicated accordingly. The rehabilitation work is crucial for the maintenance and safety of the bridge, and the Ministry assures that every effort will be made to minimise disruption to traffic.

Travellers are encouraged to check for updates regularly to ensure they have the most accurate information regarding the lane closure and any potential traffic impacts. Safety is a top priority, and the Ministry urges all motorists to drive carefully and follow signs and instructions during this period.
