Toyota Kirloskar Motor Reports Strong September Sales Boosted by GST Reforms
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) reported robust sales in September 2025, with export sales surging significantly and contributing to overall growth. The company's association with DRUM TAO as brand ambassadors and the introduction of the enhanced Rumion with six airbags as standard further bolstered its position in the market.
Varinder Wadhwa, TKM's Vice President of Sales-Service-Used Car Business, credited the strong September performance to GST reforms and festive season momentum. Despite a 9.2% month-on-month decrease from August, sales showed a 2.2% increase from July, indicating a gradual acceleration in growth. This trend was evident in the June-September period, with sales growth peaking at 11% YoY in August.
In the first half of the financial year (April-September 2025), Toyota sold 184,959 units, marking a 14% increase from the same period in 2024. The company's domestic sales in September totaled 27,089 units, with exports reaching 4,002 units. TKM's overall sales in September stood at 31,091 units, a 16% increase from September 2024. Notably, Toyota passed on full GST benefits to customers, driving demand across its portfolio. However, in September 2025, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai reported sales exceeding 31,091 vehicles, having comparable or better performance than Toyota.
Toyota's September 2025 sales, boosted by GST reforms and festive season momentum, showed a gradual acceleration in growth. The company's association with DRUM TAO and enhanced Rumion introduction further strengthened its market position. Despite intense competition, Toyota's first-half sales grew by 14%, indicating a positive trajectory for the financial year.
