To save cash, on which day is it wise to deposit funds in a book's account?
Prepare yourself! In just three months, the interest rate on Livret A accounts will drop from its current 2.40%. To squeeze the most out of your savings, though, there's no need to panic. The secret lies in the little-known capital appreciation method. Here's how to profit from it:

The stakes are high, as the Livret A rate decline is set for August 1st. But don't worry, there's still time to exploit the system. Referred to as the capital appreciation method, this secret allows you to boost your earnings.
In the banking world, interests are calculated by measuring the capital's time within the account, a concept known as "capital appreciation time." With regular savings accounts, this period is divided into fortnightly chunks. Keep in mind, however, that the length of these periods varies based on the month. For instance, while February has only 13 fortnightly periods, longer months like November have 17. Over a year, there are 24 fortnightly chunks.
To take full advantage of this method, it's best to deposit and save in specific windows. For instance, if you deposit money on the 10th, it will only generate interest from the 16th – the beginning of the next fortnight. Similarly, a deposit on the 29th will only be recognized from the 1st of next month.
To achieve optimal savings, make a deposit at the end of each fortnight, i.e., on the 15th or 30th of each month. This way, your deposit will start generating interest as soon as the new period begins.
If you get your salary at the end of the month, save a portion as soon as you receive it. This allows you to gain interest on that sum for an additional fortnight.
Join the savvy savers, and keep your Livret A afloat, despite the interest rate drop. Remember, understanding how your account works is the first step to maximizing your savings.
