On Saturday, 18th October 2025, Leipzig will play host to the PostOst Discussion and Broadcasting Session, an event that brings together groups related to post-East diaspora, exile, and solidarity networks. This significant gathering, organised in cooperation with Leipzig's International Cooperation department and the Federal Agency for Civic Education, will delve into themes such as decolonial framings, namings, and solidarities between these groups.
The event will take place at the wheelchair-accessible Kulturbar froelich & herrlich, West Wing Leipzig. The PostOst Discussion and Broadcasting Session will run from 18:00 to 22:30, with registration being a necessity and available via the calendar entry.
The topics of discussion will centre around self-understanding, visibility, and the power of collectives. Julia Boxler, Ani Menua, and X3 Podcast will guide the conversation as hosts.
In addition to the PostOst Discussion and Broadcasting Session, the LOKAL DEKOLONIAL event series will also feature two other events. The first, LOKAL DEKOLONIAL: Belarus! Межы Памежжа - The Border of the Borderlands, will explore the complexities of Belarusian culture and politics. The second, LOKAL DEKOLONIAL: Pluralism in Exile - Between Tension and Solidarity, will delve into the intricacies of pluralism in exile communities.
A sensual-political food performance, Garlic Ensemble, by artist Yasmeen Al-Qaisi, will be part of both the PostOst Discussion and Broadcasting Session and LOKAL DEKOLONIAL: Pluralism in Exile - Between Tension and Solidarity. This performance involves garlic paste preparation as a collective care ritual and resistant gesture.
The event will be conducted in both German and English, with whisper interpretation into German spoken language. The city of Leipzig's Referat internationale Zusammenarbeit and Mosaik Deutschland e.V. Heidelberg, along with the Federal Agency for Civic Education, are cooperating to make this event accessible and inclusive for all.
Join us on 18th October for a thought-provoking evening of discussion, performance, and exploration of diverse cultures and experiences. Registration for the PostOst Discussion and Broadcasting Session is now open.
