Telecom Egypt Appoints Tamer El Mahdi as New CEO
Telecom Egypt has appointed Tamer El Mahdi as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding Mohamed Nasr who has stepped down from his executive role and Board membership. El Mahdi brings extensive experience and a strong educational background to the position. He holds an MBA in International Business Administration, a Master's in Project Management, and two Master's degrees in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, along with a Bachelor's degree in the same field. With over three decades of professional experience in telecommunications, information technology, and digital transformation, El Mahdi has held leadership roles across multinational and investment companies in local and international markets. In his new role, El Mahdi will oversee the process of appointing successors to the positions of Mohamed Al Fowey and Ahmed Hassan, who have stepped down as VP & Chief Technical Officer and VP & Chief Human Resources Officer, respectively. El Mahdi has committed to strengthening Telecom Egypt's position locally and regionally, and to maximizing the company's value and shareholder wealth. The successors for these positions have not been publicly specified yet. Lobna Helal, Chairperson of the Board of Directors, expressed confidence in El Mahdi's ability to lead Telecom Egypt into a new phase of growth and expansion. El Mahdi thanked the Board for their trust in appointing him to the role, marking a significant change in the company's leadership.
