Target Kicks Off Holiday Savings Early With Price Matching and Black Friday Deals
Target has kicked off its holiday savings campaign earlier than usual, launching its price-matching guarantee and Deal Days event in October. The retailer aims to entice shoppers amidst inflation concerns and changing consumer behaviour.
Target's holiday price-matching guarantee, valid from Oct. 6 to Dec. 24, allows customers to purchase items at Target and receive a refund for the difference if they find the same item cheaper elsewhere. This initiative aligns with the 40% of consumers who say inflation will influence their holiday shopping decisions.
Target's Black Friday Deals will run from Nov. 19 to Nov. 26, both in-store and online. Following this, Target Deal of the Day specials will feature hundreds of items at Black Friday pricing from Nov. 27 to Dec. 24. However, consumers seem to be starting their holiday shopping earlier, with 46% planning to begin before Halloween, a decrease from last year.
Target's early start to holiday savings is not an isolated strategy. Competitors like Amazon, Kohl's, and Walmart have also initiated holiday sales events in early October. While these early deals may attract shoppers, they could potentially lead to a pullback in holiday spending growth.
Target's holiday savings campaign, including its price-matching guarantee and early Black Friday deals, aims to cater to inflation-conscious consumers. Despite a decrease in early holiday shoppers, Target and its competitors are banking on enticing offers to drive sales. The impact of these early deals on overall holiday spending remains to be seen.
