TANK Reviews Routes, Seeks Public Input for 2026 Changes

The Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky (TANK) is reviewing its current routes and service levels to ensure they meet community transportation needs while staying within budget. A public hearing is scheduled in Covington on October 16, 2021, to gather input from residents.

TANK, facing funding challenges and decreasing ridership, began this evaluation in July. It aims to complete the process by the end of the year. The authority has developed three potential scenarios for its transit network and is seeking public input to choose the best one. Gina Douthat, TANK's General Manager, cited funding constraints and reduced ridership as reasons for the review.

Any changes to routes, if approved, will not take effect before July 2026. TANK will publish final route changes in advance. The public is invited to provide feedback through open houses, pop-up events at transit hubs, and an online survey from October 6 to 24. TANK has hired Nelson Nygaard, a multimodal planning and engineering firm, to manage the Transit Development Plan with funding from a Federal Transit Administration grant.

TANK's evaluation of its transit network is underway, with a public hearing in Covington on October 16, 2021. The authority seeks public input to shape the future of its transit services, with changes expected no earlier than July 2026.
