SZA Rebuilds Successful 'SOS' Album through 'Lana' Deluxe Edition Redo

Grammy-winning vocalist SZA has consistently hinted at the upcoming release of Lana, her subsequent project to her 2022 sophomore album, SOS. Initially introduced as a separate album, she eventually disclosed it would function as the enhanced edition of SOS, developing upon the album's successful themes with an assortment of new tunes for eager listeners.

Lana is currently accessible, boasting 15 fresh tracks that, like those on SOS, vary widely in sound to showcase SZA's remarkable versatility. The "Saturn" singer offers standout tracks such as "My Turn" and "Love Me 4 Me"—empowering anthems—and heartfelt appeals like "Scorsese Baby Daddy" and "Diamond Boy (DTM)," offering something for every music enthusiast's taste. She even teams up with her former labelmate and frequent collaborator Kendrick Lamar on "30 for 30," their most recent collaborative effort following their "Gloria" and "Luther" collaborations on Lamar's /GNX album, which hit shelves last month.

The album drops as SZA embarks on an exciting new chapter in her career. In February, she'll make her acting debut alongside Keke Palmer in comedy movie One of Them Days, hitting theaters on Jan. 17.

Recently, she confessed to British Vogue, "I constantly wonder if I've had enough of music? Maybe I'm not destined for fame; I'm floundering and acting unpredictably. It isn't for me because I'm riddled with anxiety. Yet, why would God position me here if I wasn't to pursue this? So, I continue to strive, but I'm also like, 'The challenge is dizzying me.'”

Creating Lana proved to be a healing process as she explored her emotions in new, creative ways through her music.

"I believe I'm crafting music from a more enchanting perspective. From a more attainable perspective instead of an angsty one," she shared. "I'm no longer identifying with my fractures. It isn't who I am. It's damage I've endured. I need to let go of it eventually. Bit by bit, my music is evolving because of this, becoming lighter in the process."

Kendrick Lamar and SZA's joint Grand National Tour begins April 19 in Minneapolis and concludes on June 18 in Washington, D.C.

SZA's collaboration with Kendrick Lamar on the track "30 for 30" is a continuation of their previous collaborations, including "Gloria" and "Luther," featured on Lamar's /GNX album that was released last month. Fans of SZA can look forward to her acting debut in the comedy movie One of Them Days, set to release in theaters on January 17, alongside Keke Palmer.
