SwissBorg Halts Solana Staking After $41M Crypto Heist

SwissBorg has temporarily halted Solana staking transactions following a cyberattack that resulted in the theft of over $41 million worth of cryptocurrency. The incident, which affected a partner company's external wallet, has led SwissBorg to work with law enforcement and blockchain security firms to recover the stolen funds and ensure customers are made whole.

The attack, which occurred earlier this week, targeted Kiln, a partner company of SwissBorg. The hackers breached Kiln's API, allowing them to steal 192,600 Solana (SOL) coins, valued at approximately $41 million at the time of the incident. SwissBorg has confirmed that the attack did not directly impact its own platform.

SwissBorg has swiftly responded to the incident, pausing Solana staking transactions on the platform. The company has also engaged with blockchain security firms CertiK and SlowMist, along with law enforcement, to investigate the attack and recover the stolen funds. SwissBorg has pledged to make all affected customers whole.

This incident is not an isolated case. According to Chainalysis, hackers stole more than $2 billion in cryptocurrency in the first half of 2025. Another cryptocurrency platform in Turkey temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals last month following a $49 million theft.

SwissBorg has assured users that they will not bear the loss from the incident. The company is committed to strengthening its security measures and those of its partners to prevent such incidents in the future. The investigation into the attack is ongoing, and SwissBorg will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
