Hyundai Elantra N TCR Edition Arrives in Canada, Possible US Launch in the Future

The Hyundai Elantra N TCR Edition, a street-legal version of Hyundai's successful touring car racer, has made its debut in Canada. The vehicle is currently available for purchase, but there's no official word yet on whether it will be coming to the United States.

The Elantra N TCR Edition is a testament to Hyundai's commitment to delivering track-level excitement for everyday driving enthusiasts. Michael Ricciuto, director of product and corporate strategy at Hyundai Canada, stated that the N brand is about passion for driving and the community it creates.

The event to celebrate the launch of the Elantra N TCR Edition will take place at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Ontario during August. This event will also commemorate the 10th anniversary of Hyundai's N performance sub-brand.

The Elantra N TCR Edition is based on the Elantra N, featuring a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine producing up to 286 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque. Customers can choose between a six-speed manual or an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Racing-inspired upgrades include an adjustable carbon "swan neck" rear spoiler, performance brakes with four-piston front calipers, 19-inch forged wheels, and Alcantara interior trim. More special equipment can be found inside the street version of the Elantra N TCR Edition, including an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, parking brake handle, and gear shifter.

The Elantra N TCR Edition is exclusive to the Canadian market, with a starting price around CAD 47,599 (equivalent to USD $34,900). However, fingers are crossed that the vehicle makes a move south of the border in the near future.

Hyundai is proud of the vibrant N community in Canada and is thrilled to celebrate this milestone with them. The racing Elantra N, campaigned by the Bryan Herta Autosport team, has claimed two IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge TCR championships.

While no word has been given by Hyundai USA on the Elantra N TCR Edition coming to the United States, industry observers suggest that Hyundai USA is likely monitoring Canadian sales and could bring a similar enthusiast-focused special edition to the U.S. in the future.
