Stray Kids' Latest Album Surpasses Taylor Swift's Recent Releases Threefold in Sales

The South Korean boy band Stray Kids dominates the music charts in America this week, effortlessly topping the Billboard 200 with their latest album, 'Hop'. This achievement is nothing new for them, as it's becoming a regular occurrence to witness the debut of a K-pop powerhouse at the summit of various Billboard charts.

'Hop' triumphantly ascends to the top position on the Billboard 200, marking the group's sixth victory on this significant chart tracker. The album's impressive résumé is largely due to an enormous sales figure, which outperforms all other contenders in the United States this week. Not even the worldwide music superstar could catch up, despite the ongoing shopping spree for the best-selling title.

'Hop' transitions into the market with an impressive 187,000 equivalent units sold within its first week of availability in the U.S. The majority of these were actual sales, while streams contributed to the remainder. This substantial figure secures 'Hop' the number one position not only on the Billboard 200, but also the Top Album Sales chart.

In a distant second, Taylor Swift's album 'The Tortured Poets Department' grabs the runner-up spot on Billboard's list of the top-selling albums and EPs in the nation. Despite having been available since the spring, the album remains extremely popular, boasting strong sales. However, even Swift's magnetic pull couldn't compete with Stray Kids' success this week.

'The Tortured Poets Department' sold approximately 49,500 copies in the U.S. last week, with 'Hop' outselling it by nearly three and a half times. It's worth noting that Swift's album is currently the best-selling album in America this year, boasting an impressive 3.431 million copies sold since its release.

Furthermore, 'The Tortured Poets Department' slips from first to second on the current Top Album Sales chart, displaying a significant decrease in sales from one week to the next. The previous week saw 200,000 U.S. fans and presumably their loved ones picking up a copy of the blockbuster. Despite a remarkable 74% drop in sales, 'The Tortured Poets Department' continues to outperform numerous exciting new releases.

Amazingly, 'Hop' not only outperforms Swift this week, but it also bests the combined sales of the next six highest-selling titles on the Top Album Sales chart. This impressive list includes Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, the 'Wicked' soundtrack, and Snoop Dogg's newest album, among others. Swift's release still maintains its lead in terms of overall sales, but when it comes to this specific frame, Stray Kids leaves the competition in the dust.

Stray Kids' 'Hop' surpasses Taylor Swift's 'The Tortured Poets Department' in sales this week on the Top Album Sales chart, making it the number one album. This achievement also secures 'Hop' the number one position on the Billboard 200 chart. The success of 'Hop' has made Stray Kids the sixth K-pop group to reach the summit of the Billboard 200. With over 187,000 equivalent units sold in its first week, 'Hop' is breaking records and outperforming all other albums on the Billboard 200 charts. The album's sales are so high that it is estimated to have sold nearly three and a half times more copies than Swift's 'The Tortured Poets Department' this week.
