Stray Kids Achieve one of their Most Successful Singles in the U.S. Market
Stray Kids claim the number one spot on the Billboard 200 for the second time this year with their latest project, Hop. Marketed as a mixtape, the album swiftly overtakes the list of the most popular albums in the U.S., securing a significant victory for the boy band.
Upon release, Hop spawns one of Stray Kids' biggest U.S. hits with "Walkin on Water" as its lead single. Although it fails to enter the Hot 100, the song still manages a strong debut, securing a high position on another important chart, almost allowing the group to match their best performance yet.
"Walkin on Water" ascends to the fifth spot on this week's Digital Song Sales chart, Billboard's roster of the week's top-selling individual tracks in the U.S. This marks the third time Stray Kids have reached the top 10 on this competitive chart, and it nearly takes them back to their all-time best position.
Earlier this year, Stray Kids achieved a new peak position on the Digital Song Sales ranking with "Chk Chk Boom," a single from their EP Ate. Debuting and peaking at number 3 on the purchase-focused chart in August, "Chk Chk Boom" remains their biggest hit yet on the tally.
Stray Kids have managed to send only one more song into the Digital Song Sales chart's upper echelons. Just before setting their own record with "Chk Chk Boom," the globally recognized K-pop group cracked the top 10 on the chart for the first time, earning them a place among a select group of South Korean acts to achieve this feat. "Lose My Breath," a collaboration with American pop musician Charlie Puth, peaked at number 8 in May.
Upon joining the Digital Song Sales chart, "Walkin on Water" also makes its appearance on Billboard's global rankings as well as another chart based exclusively on U.S. consumption. The song takes the number 1 spot on the World Digital Song Sales chart, which tracks the top performers in the "world" genre.
To date, Stray Kids have topped the World Digital Song Sales chart with six different songs. Two of these, or one-third of their leaders, currently rule the charts this year. "Walkin on Water" marks the group's 38th top 10 hit on the list, an accomplishment that grew by four this week alone.
Stray Kids' hit single "Walkin on Water" from their latest project Hop surpasses 10 million sales on the World Digital Song Sales chart, further solidifying their global presence in the music industry. This achievement adds another top 10 entry to Stray Kids' impressive catalog of songs, as revealed in their recent Forbes article.
With "Walkin on Water" reaching the top spot on the World Digital Song Sales chart, Stray Kids are now the only K-pop group to have multiple singles ruling the charts at the same time. This feat is a testament to the the group's unwavering popularity and their consistent success on various music charts, as highlighted in their walkin on water sales and chart performances.
Stray Kids' latest project, Hop, not only claimed the number one spot on the Billboard 200 but also bolstered their position on the Billboard charts, with singles like "Walkin on Water" and past hits like "Chk Chk Boom" consistently making the top 10. These successes have helped Stray Kids to become a household name in the international music scene.
