Stormy conditions impacting Transcarpathia and other regions lead to adjustments intrain schedules for Ukrzaliznytsya.

Stormy weather conditions have caused significant disruptions and delays in train schedules for both international and domestic travel in Ukraine, Hungary, and Slovakia as of July 8, 2025.

Ukraine's Ukrzaliznytsia train No28 is involved in transporting passengers from the border, but delays of up to 8 hours or more have been reported for several trains, including international routes such as train No. 749/750 Vienna-Kyiv.

Hungarian and Slovak railways have also been affected, with trains from Vienna, Budapest, and Bratislava, like trains #143/750 and #617/964, being delayed. The damage to the railway infrastructure caused by storms, including damage to the contact network near Barkasovo and Skole in Ukraine, has resulted in punctuality issues for trains traveling on the routes Kyiv–Budapest (#9), Chop–Kyiv (#82), Solotvyno–Kyiv (#14), Mukachevo–Odesa (#38), and Kyiv–Chop (#749) with non-stop cars to Vienna.

In response, passengers traveling from Debrecen (Hungary) and Košice (Slovakia) are being transported to the border by backup buses, where they are then picked up by Ukrzaliznytsia trains at Chop station. The timing of train departures from Ukraine is being coordinated in real-time among dispatchers from Ukraine, Slovakia, and Hungary, and is dependent on bus arrival times and evolving weather conditions.

Ukrzaliznytsia has apologized for the delays but confirms that despite the adverse weather, train movement continues. Passengers are assured that they will be delivered safely. The press service of Ukrzaliznytsia has also apologized for the inconvenience caused by the delays.

All deviations from the schedule are collected on the portal uz-vezemo. Further changes, mainly in Hungary, are possible, and passengers are advised to check the portal for updates.

In summary, stormy weather has led to multiple schedule changes, long delays, and coordination of alternative bus transport for cross-border passengers between Ukraine, Slovakia, and Hungary, with significant operational adjustments ongoing depending on weather developments.

Financial institutions should closely monitor these disruptions, as the delays in transport services could impact business operations and transactions, particularly for those relying on train transportation in Ukraine, Hungary, and Slovakia. The weather conditions, in turn, are expected to have far-reaching consequences for the infrastructure development plans in the transportation industry, as the damage caused by the storms may necessitate significant repairs.
