State-owned leasing company, Vector Rail, operates in the industry
In a significant development, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Yekaterinburg has ruled in favour of the Prosecutor General's Office's lawsuit to seize the shares of "Vector Real" and its subsidiaries, including the railway operator "SG-Trans".
The ruling comes as part of a larger lawsuit filed against businessman Alexei Tyachin, former RZD executive Salman Babayev and his sons, "Vector Real", and AO "Federal Freight Company" (FGC). The Prosecutor General's Office accused Babayev and Tyachin of siphoning off at least 30.1 billion rubles from RZD structures.
The earlier ruling ordered the defendants (excluding FGC) to pay the siphoned amount of 30.1 billion rubles to the state. However, AO "Federal Freight Company" (FGC), established in 2010 in the Sverdlovsk region and owned by RZD, was not ordered to pay the siphoned amount to the state.
The money siphoned off was used to buy high-liquid assets that were registered in the names of family members and affiliated persons. The court ordered the defendants (excluding FGC) to pay the siphoned amount of 30.1 billion rubles to the state.
The hearing, which was an appeal to the earlier ruling by the Oktyabrsky District Court of Yekaterinburg, has set the stage for a significant appeal hearing scheduled for August 27. This hearing will address the seizure of shares of "Vector Real" and "SG-Trans".
It is important to note that as of August 12, 2025, the Russian Federation, through the Federal Property Management Agency (Rosimushchestvo), is the sole shareholder of "Vector Real".
