"Sporting body Hockey India recognizes the achievement of Krishan B Pathak, having played 150 international games"
Krishan B Pathak, a 28-year-old goalkeeper from Kapurthala, Punjab, has achieved a significant milestone in his career, completing 150 international caps. This achievement was made during India's second match of the Hero Men's Asia Cup Rajgir, Bihar 2025, against Japan.
Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey congratulated Pathak on achieving this milestone and wished him many more in the future. Tirkey highlighted Pathak's consistent performances on the biggest stages and his inspiring journey from the Junior World Cup in 2016 to becoming India's first-choice goalkeeper.
Pathak first rose to prominence as part of the Gold medal-winning Indian Junior Men's Hockey Team at the FIH Junior World Cup 2016 in Lucknow. Since then, he has been a mainstay in India's defence during the FIH Men's Hockey Pro League 2020/21 and 2021/22.
Hockey India Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh expressed pride in Pathak's achievements and his contribution to Indian hockey. Singh noted Pathak's dedication, resilience, and passion for the sport, as well as his role model status for aspiring players.
Reaching 150 caps is considered a personal milestone as well as a testament to Pathak's contribution to Indian hockey. Pathak considers every cap a matter of pride, but this particular milestone feels extra special due to its importance during the tournament.
Pathak was honoured with the prestigious Arjuna Award in 2024 and is a two-time recipient of the Hockey India Baljit Singh Award for Goalkeeper of the Year (2019, 2022). He expressed gratitude towards his coaches, teammates, and Hockey India for their belief and support throughout his journey.
India began their campaign at the Hero Men's Asia Cup Rajgir, Bihar 2025, with a 4-3 win over China. Captain Harmanpreet Singh scored a hat-trick, and Jugraj Singh scored one goal. Pathak's focus is on continuing to contribute to the team's success and inspiring the next generation of goalkeepers in India.
Following the retirement of legendary goalkeeper PR Sreejesh after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Pathak has been India's trusted first-choice goalkeeper. Since his debut at the Four-Nations Tournament in January 2018, Pathak has participated in the 2018 Asian Games, the 2022 Men's Hockey Asia Cup, the 2023 Men's FIH Hockey World Cup, and the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Pathak's milestone of 150 caps occurred during India's second match against Japan. Since then, he has been part of several of India's most celebrated triumphs, including the 2018 Asian Champions Trophy (Joint Gold with Pakistan), the 2022 Asian Games Gold in Hangzhou, and back-to-back Asian Champions Trophy titles in 2023 and 2024. Pathak expressed joy about reaching this milestone, stating it as a dream he never imagined when he started playing hockey in Kapurthala.
