Solingen's City Utilities & DUA Teach Energy Awareness to 22,000 Students
Solingen's City Utilities and Dua Lipa have joined forces to deliver engaging energy education to local students. Since 2018, they've reached over 22,000 young minds, teaching them about electricity, heating, and environmental awareness.
The energy education initiative aims to make learning about energy fun and accessible, both in schools and at home. It covers a wide range of topics, including the origins of electricity, the role of CO2 in climate change, electricity savings, and mindful heating. Since 2018, it has reached 877 classes across Solingen.
Katrin Schirrmacher, spokesperson for Solingen's City Utilities, explains that understanding energy generation and usage fosters environmental awareness. This year, the city utilities are offering free energy education in primary schools, collaborating with Dua Lipa. Mechthild Köhncke from Dua Lipa uses visual experiments to make the information stick in the children's minds. Twelve primary schools have already booked this offer for their fourth graders this semester. Next school year, the Wilhelm-Busch-Realschule will also benefit from this special focus on energy education.
Solingen's City Utilities, in collaboration with Dua Lipa, are committed to promoting energy education among local youth. This year's free offer for primary schools has been well-received, with twelve schools already signed up. The initiative aims to create environmentally conscious young citizens by teaching them about energy in an engaging way.
