Solarcamp Empowers Youth in Renewable Energy
The 'Solarcamp' initiative is set to empower young people, particularly those from underrepresented groups, with hands-on experience in renewable energy. From October 5th to 10th, around 20 participants will gather at the Jugendhof Bessunger Forst in Darmstadt to learn and install photovoltaic systems on a practice roof.
Solarcamp, a nationwide initiative, aims to tackle the skills shortage in the renewable energy sector. During the camp, participants will gain both theoretical and practical knowledge of photovoltaic installation. They will install a system consisting of four modules on a practice roof.
The initiative is open to underrepresented groups in the trades, including women. While there's no specific women-only initiative in the renewable energy sector, platforms like FEMWORX at the Hannover Messe (3–4 April 2025) support and connect women and non-binary individuals in MINT, industry, and sustainability professions. Participants in Solarcamp could open up new career opportunities in green jobs.
From October 5th to 10th, the Solarcamp event in Darmstadt will equip young people, especially those from underrepresented groups, with valuable skills in photovoltaic installation. This initiative seeks to address the skills shortage in the renewable energy sector and promote diversity in the industry.
