SJ Opens Winter Ticket Sales, Competitors Follow Suit

Swedish Railways (SJ) has opened ticket sales for the winter season. Customers can now secure their journeys between December 14th and January 11th, with another release planned for later this month.

SJ released tickets for all departures during this period on October 1st. Another round of tickets, covering journeys from January 12th to March 29th, will be available at the end of October. During these releases, the SJ website experiences high traffic, with thousands of customers waiting in digital queues.

Competitors have also started their winter ticket sales. Finnish company VR offers the cheapest Christmas tickets, priced at 219 kronor, bookable directly on their website. Meanwhile, Deutsche Bahn will release tickets for departures between January 12th and March 29th, following the new 2026 schedule available from October 15th. Tickets can be booked up to 12 months in advance. Norwegian company Vy has also released some winter tickets.

With winter holidays approaching, several railway companies have started releasing tickets for the season. SJ customers can secure their journeys now, with another release later this month. Competitors VR, Deutsche Bahn, and Vy also offer winter tickets, allowing travellers to plan their journeys in advance.
