Seth Curry Expresses Desire for Long-Term Commitment with Charlotte Post-Current Season
Article Rebuilt:
Hangin' out in Charlotte ain't all bad for 11-year hoops vet Seth Curry, even if the Hornets sit at 17-51 and 14th in the Eastern Conference. There's beauty to be found everywhere, and for Curry, that beauty lies right in the Queen City.
Chatting exclusively with Forbes, the Hornet-born hoops star shared his love for his squad, saying, "It's a dream come true to play for the Hornets." Growing up cheering for the Hornets, Curry had even more of a connection to the team than most kiddos, thanks to his pops, Dell Curry, who spent a decade tearing it up with the Hornets. The elder Curry retired as the franchise's all-time leading scorer, with a whopping 9,839 points under his belt.
As if that bond wasn't tight enough, Dell's currently one-half of arguably the best local broadcast duo in the NBA. Teaming up with his widely-loved partner, Eric Collins, the father-son duo has been the voice of the Hornets for the past decade. So when the ball is in Seth's hands, Dell gets to call every game his youngest son plays in.
But it's not just family ties that make Curry feel at home in Charlotte. As a sage master on a developing young team, Curry's been embracing his role as a mentor.
"I knew when I signed up to come back last summer that it would be a rebuilding process," Curry explained. "The motivation for me is to be a professor. To try and lead the guys and show them my work ethic and what it got me to be able to play 11, 12 years in the league. So it's more than about wins and losses right now. At this point, it's about building good habits."
While the win column hasn't shown it yet, Curry's wisdom is reportedly a huge help to the Hornets. With a long career that's taken him around the block, Curry's got a keen eye for talent, and he thinks this group's got some special players in the works.
LaMelo Ball's the headliner of the bunch, and like the rest of us, Curry's impressed with the kid's ability to cook up offense for himself and his teammates. But even more than that, he's captivated by Ball's ability to draw in fans wherever he goes - comparing him to his Hall of Fame-bound older brother.
"The flair that Ball plays with on a nightly basis and how the young kids and the fans just gravitate to him everywhere we go, even though we aren't winning a lot of games, it's very similar to the way Stephen Curry is treated by opposing arenas. You see the pull he has on the youth around the country and how much they love to see him play, and that manifests itself in all-star votes that we saw him get earlier in the season," Curry stated.
Curry's kind words for second-year forward Brandon Miller are just as glowing.

"Talent-wise, Miller can be as good as he wants to be," Curry commented. "With that size, at the guard position, with his ability to shoot and handle the ball, if he keeps developing at the rate he should, he will be a perennial All-Star."
Curry's certain that the Hornets are closer to a run than it seems. With the team currently second in player games lost due to injury, as per Spotrac, he believes they'd be in the mix for a spot in the Play-In Tournament if it weren't for the injuries.
After signing a one-year deal with the Hornets this past offseason, Curry's set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer. Curry's smart enough to know the NBA's all business, but if he has his way, he'll stick around to see this rebuild all the way through.
"I feel like I have a purpose on this team," Curry shared. "So, I would love to come back. Obviously, I want the team to improve and make some good moves in the offseason. But right now, I'm enjoying my time here, and I would love to come back."
Stepping off the court, Curry's partnering with companies that align with his interests, like Bush's Beans. His love for cooking makes this the perfect brand for him, as he's been whipping up bean-based recipes for years.
Curry's currently helping Bush's launch its first-ever "Your Fam on a Can" campaign. Starting on March 19, fans can head to YourFamOnACan.com to receive a personalized can that commemorates their favorite family bean recipes.
Curry's even kicking things off by sharing his own family recipe: Curry Caviar.
"The beans involve a lot of different family recipes across the country right now, and we kind of have our own family recipe that we do in my household," Curry said. "It's called the Curry Family Caviar. It's a spin on cowboy caviar with the... It's a healthy snack that my family always makes during March Madness."
