Seoul's Housing Crisis: International Students Find Relief in Lower Rents

Seoul faces a housing crunch, with over half of its residents living without homeownership. Meanwhile, studio apartment maintenance costs have surged in areas near major universities. To assist international students, the Seoul Global Center hosted a Housing Guide session during its Welcoming Week program.

The session, held on October 2 at the Seoul Startup Hub in Mapo District, western Seoul, provided crucial information for international students navigating the city's housing market. Notably, despite rising maintenance costs, monthly rents for studio apartments in these areas have decreased, offering some relief to students.

The Seoul Global Center's initiative highlights the city's efforts to support international students amidst a challenging housing landscape. While maintenance costs remain high, the drop in rents signals a potential easing of the housing situation in Seoul's university neighborhoods.
