Seizure of Power on Thursday: The Major Acquisitions Led by Private Equity Firms

In the dynamic world of business, three major acquisitions have caught the attention of investors and industry experts alike. While the details of two of these deals are still in the works, one acquisition has already been confirmed.

Carlyle's Acquisition of SNP Schneider-Neureither

Carlyle, a global investment firm, has successfully acquired SNP Schneider-Neureither & Partner SE, a leading provider of SAP-focused data transformation software and consulting services. The Executive and Supervisory Boards of SNP recommended acceptance of Carlyle's offer as of January 22, 2025.

Post-acquisition, SNP has shown no signs of slowing down. The company has recently expanded operations in the Middle East with a new office in Dubai, led by an experienced regional head, indicating ongoing growth under current ownership conditions.

The acquisition was funded through Carlyle Europe Partners V-a €6.4bn vehicle.

Brookfield's Acquisition of Colonial Enterprises

Brookfield Infrastructure Partners and its institutional affiliates have agreed to acquire Colonial Enterprises, the operator of the largest fuel pipeline in the US. However, no specific details about the deal have been disclosed yet. The reported bid values Colonial at $9bn.

Brookfield will take full control of Colonial from a consortium of five shareholders, including Shell's Midstream Operating unit, which is exiting its stake in Colonial Enterprises for $1.45bn.

Brookfield's Takeover Discussions with Grifols

Brookfield has resumed takeover discussions with Spanish pharmaceutical group Grifols. The potential acquisition values Grifols at €7bn ($7.55bn), but the value is not yet confirmed beyond this figure as negotiations are ongoing.

However, it's worth noting that Grifols management rejected a previous offer due to it being perceived as undervaluing the company. The non-binding €6.7bn offer made by Brookfield was withdrawn last November.

At the moment, no specific details about the shareholders involved in the potential acquisition have been disclosed.

As these deals unfold, they are shaping the global market, with strategic partnerships and growth opportunities at the forefront. Stay tuned for more updates as these acquisitions progress.
