Samsung phone users in the US now have a novel method for in-store payments

The Samsung Wallet has received an upgrade for users in the USA, providing a new way to make in-store installment payments without needing a new credit account or undergoing a credit check. This innovative feature is made possible through a partnership with Splitit.

With this upgrade, Android phone users can now split their payments into manageable installments when making purchases in stores using Samsung Wallet. To access the installment payment option, users simply need to tap 'Pay in installments' in the Samsung Wallet app.

The upgrade offers flexibility, as users can choose from four different payment plans: six or eight payments every two weeks, or six or nine monthly payments. It's essential to note that the choice of payment plan must be made within 24 hours; otherwise, the full amount will be charged immediately.

Key features of this upgrade include the use of existing credit cards, with eligible Visa or Mastercard cards linked to Samsung Wallet. No credit checks are required, and payments are made using the credit available on the existing card. The entire transaction and installment selection happen seamlessly within Samsung Wallet at the point of sale via contactless Android devices running Android 12 or higher.

The Samsung Wallet upgrade with Splitit is currently rolling out in 21 U.S. states plus Washington D.C., including Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Utah, Wyoming, and the District of Columbia. Plans for nationwide availability are in place for later in 2025.

This integration enhances user convenience by allowing installment payments directly from their phones during everyday in-store purchases. It also helps merchants increase sales by offering a more flexible payment option to customers.

In summary, the Samsung Wallet upgrade with Splitit enables U.S. Android users to split in-store payments into manageable installments quickly and smoothly using their existing credit cards, without credit checks or new accounts, all handled within the Samsung Wallet app itself. Users can monitor their installment payments within the app and can select from four different installment plans. However, the installment payment option is not compatible with Chase Bank credit cards. This addition to the Samsung Wallet can help ease financial burdens during times of hardship by allowing users to spread the cost of purchases over a longer period.

With the Samsung Wallet upgrade, users can now manage their personal-finance needs more flexibly by splitting in-store payments into installments using technology integrated within the app. This feature, made possible through a partnership with Splitit, allows Android users to utilize their existing credit cards for installment payments without the need for new accounts or credit checks.
