Microsoft Rus Files for Bankruptcy in Moscow Arbitration Court

In a significant development, Microsoft Rus, the main legal entity of Microsoft in Russia, has officially filed for bankruptcy in the Moscow Arbitration Court. The bankruptcy application was submitted on July 26, 2025, and the first hearing for the proceedings is scheduled for September 11, 2025.

The total debt amount declared by Microsoft Rus in the bankruptcy filing is approximately 142.7 billion rubles (around $1.85 billion USD). The creditors involved include several companies, notably Russian firms such as Exigen Services, IT Expert-Group, and the Russian National Center of Informatization. These creditor companies have outstanding claims on Microsoft Rus dating back to contracts for IT and software services.

The bankruptcy proceeding began on July 29, according to EGRUL data. The court will verify the validity of the application for the recognition of the debtor as bankrupt during the hearing. The temporary administrator for Microsoft Rus will be selected from the members of the "Eurosiberian Self-Regulating Organization of Arbitration Managers".

It is worth noting that among the companies that have filed lawsuits against Microsoft Rus are Gazprombank, Severstal, Aeroflot, Alrosa, the Central Bank of Russia, and Megafon.
