Rising fees in the forest swimming spot and locating financial cuts
In response to the city's strained financial situation, the Waldschwimmbad on Rosenhöhe in Offenbach has recently implemented changes aimed at generating additional revenue and contributing to the city's overall financial stability.
The most notable change is an increase in the entrance fees for the swimming pool. However, this adjustment does not affect families and recreational users, who will continue to pay the same amount. Competitive swimmers who do not use the pool as part of a club like the EOSC or the Offenbach Water Sports Club will see an increase.
The new regulations also include a change in the pool rental fee, which has increased from 20 to 30 euros per hour. Additionally, the swimming pool now opens on Tuesdays and Thursdays mornings a half hour later, at 6:30 AM.
Despite these changes, the Waldschwimmbad's income still does not solely cover its running costs. Subsidies from the municipal budget are required to bridge the gap. The adjustments are, therefore, part of a broader effort to reduce the burden on the municipal budget.
Mayor Dr. Felix Schwenke emphasized the importance of these small adjustments, stating that they are necessary to reduce the financial burden on the city's overall budget while still maintaining public access to recreational amenities. These changes are not the only measures being taken to stabilize the city's financial situation.
The city's financial situation has been under scrutiny, and a comprehensive review of savings measures has been initiated. The adjustments at the Waldschwimmbad are part of this multi-faceted approach, aiming to contribute to small savings in operating costs. The city hopes that these measures, along with others, will help alleviate the financial strain and ensure the continued provision of essential services to its citizens.
Individuals belonging to clubs like the EOSC or the Offenbach Water Sports Club, who previously had free time for swim sessions at reduced rates, will now witness an increase in costs as a consequence of the pool's financial adjustments. In an effort to cover its running costs and reduce the financial burden on the city's budget, the Waldschwimmbad has also implemented a rise in pool rental fees from 20 to 30 euros per hour.
