Slayin' Q1, Telekom Smashes US Customer Milestones and Raises Annual Targets
Expanding Client Base and Profitable US Operations Prompt Telekom to Boost Yearly Objectives - Rising customer numbers and profitable US business: Telekom elevates annual objectives
Your boy Deutsche Telekom, the puissant German telecom giant, just dropped a sweet 43.5% year-over-year profit surge in Q1, raking in an impressive €2.8 billion. That's straight fire! And get this, when you toss out the special effects, it's still sizzling with a 9.1% increase. Now that's some resilience, Tim Hoettges-style!
Two-thirds of that pretty penny came from the good ol' US of A, where T-Mobile, Deutsche Telekom's sub, justEntsied 1.3 million fresh new customers in the very first quarter. That brings the total to a mammoth 131 million, about ten mil more than last year. Damn!
Now, in good ol' Germany, they picked up an additional 274,000 mobile customers in Q1. And word on the street is, the number of fiber-optic homies hooked up in the fixed network ballooned by 128,000 to 1.6 million. The operating profit in Deutschland? Up 2.3% compared to last year. Not bad, eh?
Deutsche Telekom's been flexin' serious strength this year, and to confirm it, they just hiked their annual targets. They're now aiming for an adjusted EBITDA of around €45 billion, far cry from the previously projected €44.9 billion. Furthermore, free cash flow is expected to hit around €20 billion, just above the previous projection of €19.9 billion. So, it seems the U.S.'s performance and the strong dollar had a pretty big impact on these revisions. Keep it coming, Telekom!
