Revised Forecast of ProSiebenSat.1 for 2025 Unexpectedly Diminished

In the fourth quarter, ProSiebenSat.1, the German broadcasting group, continues to face challenging circumstances, according to recent reports. The company's ownership structure has been clarified, with Media for Europe (MFE), the holding company of the Berlusconi family, acquiring control of the group.

The revision in ProSiebenSat.1's outlook is attributed to the persisting difficulties in the German economic situation. As a result, the company has revised its 2025 revenue forecast, now expecting between 3.65 and 3.8 billion euros, down from previous projections of between 3.7 and 4.05 billion euros.

The decline in advertising revenues is a significant factor in this revision. ProSiebenSat.1 expects advertising revenues in the German-speaking region to decrease by a mid-single-digit percentage compared to the previous year. The company also adjusted its 2025 forecast for adjusted EBITDA, now expecting between 420 and 470 million euros, down from previous projections of between 470 and 570 million euros.

In 2024, ProSiebenSat.1 reported a result of 537 million euros for adjusted EBITDA. However, no new information about the company's performance in 2024 or any new revenue or EBITDA forecasts for future years were provided in the current reports.

Martin Mildner, the Chief Financial Officer of ProSiebenSat.1, expressed cautious optimism about the second half of the year during the half-year results presentation in July. However, recent reports suggest that advertising demand for September and the initial indications for October are below expectations for both linear TV and digital advertising products.

It's important to note that the recovery previously predicted by research institutes is still considered uncertain. The recovery, which was anticipated to materialize, is now considered unlikely to occur.

Despite these challenges, ProSiebenSat.1 was not taken over by another company in 2021. The takeover by the Italian holding MediaForEurope (MFE) of the Berlusconi family occurred later, with control secured in 2025. There is no record of any takeover of ProSiebenSat.1 by another company specifically in the year 2021.

In conclusion, ProSiebenSat.1 continues to face challenging circumstances in the fourth quarter, with declining advertising revenues and a revised outlook for 2025. The company's situation remains uncertain, with the recovery predicted by research institutes still considered unlikely to materialize.
