Revamped Beginning for the Event Sector Industry
Events industry longs for a fresh start as they battle through the challenges posed by the pandemic since March 2020. Digital events, health and safety initiatives, and solidarity efforts have been instrumental in keeping the industry afloat. With vaccination progress and decreasing infection rates, a new beginning may soon be on the horizon. But, the road remains rocky for the event industry.
#backtobusiness with Eurotruss
To show that they're still standing strong, truss manufacturer Eurotruss launched the #backtobusiness campaign. The aim of this campaign is to find a way back to business as usual, allowing the entertainment industry to safely reopen.
Summer of Culture 2021 with New Start Culture
In the spring, the German Federal Cultural Foundation introduced a funding program for artists to create fresh opportunities for the cultural sector. The objective is to utilize outdoor concerts, live performances, readings, exhibitions, and other formats in public spaces to shift cultural life out of the digital realm and back into the urban community, facilitating real-life encounters between cultural practitioners and their audience.
New start for fairs and congresses
Trade fairs have gained some relief, with corresponding sanitation guidelines and criteria, enabling their resumption since late June. A survey conducted by Messe Frankfurt indicates that 97% of participating businesses wish to continue attending events in Frankfurt, emphasizing the importance of live trade shows and the benefits of hybrid formats during these challenging times.
The comeback of trade shows is further aided by multiple regulations, programs, and subsidies. For instance, exhibitors at trade shows may be subject to specific entry restrictions, and the German Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) provides support for the trade fair relaunch with a fund program.
The Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) is also joining the cause through the "Trade fairs made in Germany" campaign, aimed at exhibiting companies and stakeholders worldwide, highlighting the value of live trade shows in Germany as a cultural hub.
Messe Frankfurt actively works to make the trade fair reopening possible by providing information on the hygiene concept for events.
