"Resident voices frustration over site detour"
Construction on Forstenrieder Allee in Munich is causing a detour, leaving one resident, Barbara Fuermetz, dissatisfied with the signage. The utility company is installing a new district heating line in the carriageway, resulting in a closure between Zurich Street and Filchner Street until approximately August 1. Motorists are being directed via the surrounding street network, but Fuermetz argues that the signage is inadequate.
"Motorists outbound are instructed, but those coming inbound face chaos," Fuermetz explains, as cars entering from Forstenrieder Park are inadvertently detoured away and encounter 'No entry' signs at Grabmann Street. In Fuermetz's opinion, a detour should have been established at Fritz-Baehr Street to accommodate traffic more effectively.
Presently, finding the correct detour is challenging for drivers and buses, with many getting lost and reverting back multiple times. "I've observed cars going past us three times because they don't know where to go," says Fuermetz, humorously laughing. "A truck even reversed through parked Grabmann Street, and buses have executed impressive turns."
Improved signage measures are planned for June 1, but until then, the situation persists. Fuermetz has already reached out to local authorities with her concerns, who have offered sympathy but have been unable to implement changes. "A sign at Fritz-Baehr Street could alleviate the confusion and make everyone happy," Fuermetz asserts.
