Rerouting of Bus Lines 3 and 13 for Heat on Liebigstraße

Starting September 22, construction work will commence on Liebig Street in Gießen, causing a temporary closure to through traffic. This development will also result in changes to bus routes 3 and 13, with a diversion via Aulweg and Leihgesterner Weg between the stops "Ulner Triangle" and "Röntgen Street".

The operator of these affected bus lines, Stadtwerke Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt am Main (VGF), oversees city and regional bus services in Frankfurt, alongside other operators coordinated by traffiQ for local urban public transport. As a result of the closure, the "Welcker Street" stop in Liebig Street will be inaccessible, and a replacement stop has been set up in Aulweg. Unfortunately, the "Ebel Street" stop cannot be served during construction.

Residents, emergency vehicles, and waste collection can still pass through the area. For updates on the construction progress and completion, residents can visit www.stadtwerke-our website/traffic-information or call 0641 708-1400.

The construction work aims to modernize the aging power and water lines, as well as renew house connections. This expansion of the district heating network in Liebig Street is being carried out by the Gießen City Works (SWG).

In addition to the construction-related changes, the RMV Mobility Center at the SWG Customer Center, Market Square, remains accessible. The center's opening hours are Monday to Friday, 9 am to 6 pm. For further information on current diversions and schedule changes, residents can also call the following numbers.

SWG can also be reached via email at mobizentrale@stadtwerke-our website. The construction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026, depending on the weather conditions. It may cause noise and will result in the unavailability of public parking spaces in Liebig Street.

Despite these temporary inconveniences, the improvements to Liebig Street's infrastructure are expected to bring long-term benefits to the community.
