Deutsche Bank has teamed up with mobility platform Bolt to launch card acquiring services across Europe and the UK. This service, operational since April 2025, utilises Silverflow's cloud-based payment infrastructure, following a strategic partnership between Deutsche Bank and Silverflow announced in June 2024.
In this partnership, Deutsche Bank acts as the card acquirer, leveraging its membership with Visa and Mastercard schemes to route payments through Silverflow's platform. The card schemes settle transaction funds with Deutsche Bank, which then processes payouts to Bolt.
Kilian Thalhammer, Head of Merchant Solutions at Deutsche Bank, commented that this partnership is another milestone in their strategy to deliver modern, scalable, and regulatory-resilient payment solutions for platform businesses across Europe. Jüri Laur, Director of Product, Commerce at Bolt, added that the collaboration has significantly streamlined Bolt's payment operations across Europe and the UK.
The partnership aims to provide a modern, scalable, and regulatory-compliant payment solution tailored for digital platform businesses operating across European markets. This collaboration allows Bolt to benefit from a stable and scalable infrastructure aligned with its growth objectives, resulting in a smoother payment experience for customers.
Deutsche Bank highlights that this initiative reinforces its leadership in the European payments space and complements its broader strategy to modernize card processing by introducing innovative acquiring models powered by cloud technology. The solution fully integrates with Visa and Mastercard infrastructures, embodying a trend towards cloud-based payment architectures that balance regulatory security with operational efficiency.
The collaboration between Deutsche Bank and Bolt is part of Deutsche Bank's broader efforts to expand its role in the European payments sector.
