Regional Government Tackles Hydrogeological Risks in Savona Region

The regional government is tackling hydrogeological risks in the Savona region, particularly in Pontinvrea and Pietra Ligure, following the devastating floods of October 2021. Measures include reinforced monitoring, maintenance work, and riverbank consolidation.

In Pontinvrea, a project worth nearly 2.5 million euros is underway to mitigate hydrogeological risk. The intervention focuses on the consolidation of the riverbank and the adaptation of sections of the Erro and Labioso streams at their confluence. This work is part of a larger project to address hydrogeological instability across the region.

Meanwhile, in Pietra Ligure, 1,652,000 euros have been allocated to improve the safety of a stretch of the Rio Ranzi. This involves seven approved interventions, including the hydraulic adaptation of the river's cover, the demolition and reconstruction of road infrastructure, and the removal of a pedestrian bridge. These works aim to safeguard an important road leading to the local hospital.

The Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security has allocated a total of 12,318,000 euros for hydrogeological risk mitigation across the entire regional territory. This includes significant investments in Pontinvrea and Pietra Ligure, demonstrating the government's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of residents in these areas.
