Recognition for Extraordinary Achievements in Process Engineering and Paper Technology: Koehler Paper Award 2025

The Koehler Paper Award, a prestigious accolade presented by Koehler Paper, a company under the Koehler Group, has been recognised as a crucial success factor for the future of the paper industry by Thomas Peter, Site Manager at Koehler Paper in Kehl. This award is given to exceptional graduates in the fields of Paper Technology and Process Engineering Paper and Biofibers.

The Koehler Paper Award is designed to recognise and encourage outstanding academic achievements in disciplines crucial to the paper processing industry. The purpose of the award is to support and cultivate dedicated young talent early in their careers, and to promote productive exchanges between academic science and industry stakeholders focusing on real-world applications.

The selection criteria for the award focus on graduates who have demonstrated extraordinary achievements and attained top grades in core subjects relevant to paper technology and biofiber process engineering. Areas like chemical technology, coating, specialty paper, minerals, biopolymer chemistry, biogenic fibers, and surface finishing are among the key subjects considered.

This year, the Koehler Paper Award was presented for the fourth time at the Munich University of Applied Sciences. Simon Ketterer, Head of Personnel Consulting and Support, presented the awards at the graduation ceremony. Fabian Noss, the class valedictorian in the master's program for minerals, coating, and specialty papers, was one of the recipients. Manuel Ebmeyer was honoured for his outstanding results in the bachelor's program in biopolymer chemistry, biogenic fiber materials, and surface finishing.

Each recipient of the Koehler Paper Award receives a €1,000 prize and a certificate made from handmade Koehler paper. This unique certificate not only serves as a testament to their achievements but also represents the connection between academia and industry that the award aims to foster.

Koehler Holding SE & Co. KG, a part of the Koehler Group, believes in supporting young talent in their journey into the paper industry. The Koehler Paper Award aims to strengthen the exchange between science and practice, according to Simon Ketterer. This year's recipients, Fabian Noss and Manuel Ebmeyer, are set to make significant contributions to the industry in the future.

The Koehler Paper Award serves as both a recognition of excellence and a bridge between academia and industry to foster innovation and talent in paper-related sciences and technologies.

The Koehler Paper Award acknowledges and inspires academic excellence in disciplines significant to the paper processing industry, with a particular focus on finance as it involves the prize money. This award aims to strengthen the connection between academia and industry, particularly the finance sector, by supporting and nurturing promising young talent.
