Railway services temporarily suspended: passengers required to switch to bus transportation
Deutsche Bahn Announces Temporary Changes to Gäubahn and Black Forest Railway Services
Deutsche Bahn (DB), the primary responsible party for railway lines in South Baden-Württemberg, has announced changes to several routes due to ongoing track renewal work and construction projects.
Starting this weekend, the Gäubahn route from Stuttgart to Switzerland will require travelers to switch to buses between Oberndorf am Neckar (Rottweil district) and Rottweil. The section of the Gäubahn between these two locations will be closed from Friday evening at 10 PM to Monday morning at 2:30 AM due to bridge construction on the Gäubahn. During this closure, buses will run between Oberndorf, Rottweil, and Singen (Constance district).
In a separate project, the Black Forest Railway is affected by renewal work between Villingen and Donaueschingen. From now until October 17, sleepers and tracks will be replaced on this section. Passengers can switch to buses between Villingen, Donaueschingen, and Engen during this time.
The Hochrheinbahn expansion is also underway, with overhead line expansion taking place. However, the Hochrheinbahn expansion is an independent project from the bridge construction on the Gäubahn. Passengers on the Hochrheinbahn can expect train cancellations between Waldshut and Erzingen during construction. Replacement buses will be provided for passengers during this period.
The electrification of the track between Basel and Erzingen (Waldshut district) will begin this Saturday. This section of the Black Forest Railway will be closed to trains during the renewal work.
Timetable information for these changes can be found on the DB-App Navigator and the train information. For those traveling between Engen/Singen and Konstanz, passengers should switch to trains operated by Swiss Federal Railways, according to DB.
The Hochrheinbahn expansion project, led by DB's infrastructure division and in cooperation with the state government of Baden-Württemberg and local districts such as Lörrach and Waldshut, is a significant undertaking. No specific impact on travel to Switzerland from Stuttgart due to the Hochrheinbahn expansion has been mentioned.
Travelers are advised to check the DB-App Navigator or the train information for the most up-to-date information on their journeys.
