Queen Achieves Initial Top 40 Position on a Single Billboard Chart

Queen's discography is teeming with renowned hits that have left a lasting impression on the rock genre. Apart from their well-known tracks, the band's influence extends far beyond expectations. One such song, resurfacing near year's end, grants the legends an additional triumph as it regains popularity.

"Thank God It's Christmas" re-emerges on both Billboard's playlist-tracking charts. While not typically recognized as one of Queen's largest or finest hits, the single achieves a new pinnacle on both charts with its revival.

Remarkably, Queen achieves their first career top 40 hit on the Billboard Global Excl. US. Their holiday anthem claims the No. 36 spot on this chart, offering a glimpse into global music preferences. Although US-based streams and sales are not considered, this ranking highlights the world's musical preferences.

"Thank God It's Christmas" is the sole Queen track to crack the upper half of the Billboard Global Excl. US, a list of 200 tracks. Previously, the melody only reached the top 100, but this season, it surpassed its former peak of No. 86.

Even some of Queen's most famous singles, such as "Bohemian Rhapsody" (No. 110), "Another One Bites The Dust" (No. 153), and "Don't Stop Me Now" (No. 178), have yet to chart as high globally on this list. While these classics occupy esteemed positions in Queen's repertoire, they fall short of matching the popularity of their Christmas classic.

As it enters the top 40 on the Billboard Global Excl. US, "Thank God It's Christmas" simultaneously returns to the Billboard Global 200. This chart takes into account both international sales and streams, including those originating from America. This week, it claims the no. 73 position on the global hit list.

To date, Queen has only sent three songs to the Billboard Global 200, which debuted in 2020, long after the band ceased producing new music. "Thank God It's Christmas" continues to hold the crown as the highest-ranking Queen song on this chart, surpassing the No. 97 high previously set by "Bohemian Rhapsody."

The holiday anthem "Thank God It's Christmas" by Queen makes a comeback on the Billboard Global Charts, reaching a new height and becoming the band's only song in the upper half of this chart. This success also extends to the Billboard Global 200, where the song returns and currently holds the 73rd position. Interestingly, despite Queen's renowned hits like "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Another One Bites The Dust," and "Don't Stop Me Now," none have achieved a higher global rank on the Billboard Global 200 than "Thank God It's Christmas." This holiday track's resurgence is a testament to its enduring appeal and Queen's significant impact on Christmas music, as evidenced by its 36th spot on the Billboard Global Excl. US chart.
