Ver.di, in particular, is demanding a significant pay increase for all employees. They are proposing an 8% increase in monthly salaries, which they argue is necessary to offset inflation and secure real wage growth for public sector employees. In addition to this, ver.di is calling for an increase in training allowances and internship salaries by 200 euros per month.
The proposed agreement, if reached, would last for 12 months and apply equally to civil servants, judges, soldiers, and pensioners. Furthermore, ver.di is demanding three additional free days to compensate for increasing workloads, and they are proposing a "My Time Account" to provide employees with more time sovereignty and flexibility.
In support of these demands, NRW regional leader Gabriele Schmidt explains that the pressures faced by public sector employees due to past staff cuts and current skilled labor shortages make these demands crucial.
