Prolonged shutdown of roads in Mainz-Mombach
In the heart of Mainz-Mombach, a significant construction project is set to impact local traffic and public transportation. The New Mainzer Fernwärme GmbH district heating line is set to be laid on the grounds of the former Waggonfabrik, commencing on August 18.
- Traffic Disruptions
The construction project will lead to several changes in the city's traffic flow. Expect partial or full road closures, lane reductions, and detours on key streets, particularly along Mombacher Hauptstraße between Liebigstraße and Hattenbergstraße/Am Schützenweg for at least two months.
- Bus Route Changes
Several bus lines will be affected by the construction works. Buses serving the affected areas might be rerouted to avoid construction sites, leading to changes in stops and schedules. For instance, Line 92 will be detoured between "Eintrachthalle" and "Nordbahnhof" via Liebigstraße and Industriestraße.
Some bus stops towards the city center will be closed, such as "Alte Waggonfabrik A" and "Zwerchallee C," with replacement stops in Liebigstraße and Nestlestraße for Line 92 buses. The "Alte Waggonfabrik A" stop in the direction of the city center will be skipped, with the "Liebigstraße A" stop serving as a replacement.
- Safety Measures
The safety of pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and public transport users is paramount during construction. Construction zones will be marked with clear signage and barriers to ensure safety.
- Communication and Updates
Residents and commuters are advised to consult the City of Mainz or local transit authority announcements for specific details on the affected streets, bus lines, duration of works, and official detour plans.
In addition to bus lines 92, the construction works will also affect bus lines 60, 63, 80, and 81. Buses between Mombach, Budenheim, or Ingelheim and the "Eintrachthalle" stop will depart a few minutes earlier.
For Line 60, 63, 80, and 81, after the "Eintrachthalle A" stop, the buses will follow the route: Schott AG, Liebigstraße A, Nestlestraße A, Tierheim Mainz B, Zwerchallee (before the intersection with Hattenbergstraße) back to Schott AG A.
In night traffic, tram lines 50 and 51 can be used as an alternative at Zwerchallee for Line 92 bus passengers.
Remember to plan your journey carefully and allow extra time for travel during the construction period. Stay informed and stay safe!
- The construction project in Mainz-Mombach, particularly the New Mainzer Fernwärme GmbH district heating line, is anticipated to have an impact on the finance sector, as increased costs may be incurred due to traffic disruptions, bus route changes, and potential delays in public-transit and transportation services.
- The transportation industry is expected to experience considerable change and adaptation during the construction period in Mainz-Mombach, due to the impact on various bus lines (including 92, 60, 63, 80, and 81) and the necessity for alternate routes, temporary stop closures, and revised schedules, aimed at ensuring safety and minimal disturbance to passengers.
