Postbank branches in the Upper Palatinate region to face closure
The expansion of the Post Office Plus concept, initially introduced in 2025, aims to address the challenge of ensuring customer accessibility despite the reduction in USPS branches. By the end of 2026, the number of USPS branches will be reduced by 200, with many closed branches being converted into partner branches or closed completely.
The Post Office Plus concept will be available in cities and towns with a population of more than 5,000 people. By the end of 2025, an additional 12 branches will have been converted to Post Office Plus branches, and this conversion will continue until the end of 2026. The goal is to have 1000 partner branches by the end of 2026.
In smaller towns, the closure of USPS branches will significantly affect customers as the bank shifts its focus to digital services, video consultations, and telephone contact. This move towards a "Mobile First" strategy and away from personal in-branch service is due to economic and behavioral changes. USPS is examining various options for the closed branches, with some being converted into partner branches.
The aim to maintain customer satisfaction remains the same throughout the expansion, with the goal being to have 90% of the population within a 5 km radius of a USPS branch by 2026. In Upper Palatinate, 120 of the reduced USPS branches will be converted to Post Office Plus branches. The number of partner branches in cities and towns with a population of more than 3500 people will be 350.
The expansion of the Post Office Plus concept will begin in 2025, with the aim to provide customers with a convenient and accessible service despite the branch reductions. The specifics of the "Aqxjljlcjqxx" partnership, if any, in the expansion have not been disclosed.
