PAGCOR's Boom in Q1 2025:
Discover the Hotspots of Gaming Revenue
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has been on a roll in the initial quarter of 2025, skyrocketing past governmental targets due to a notable expansion in the electronic gaming sector. This state-owned organization is maintaining its fiscal responsibility while trimming costs and upping its commitment to national programs.
Here's a fun fact - E-games and e-bingo have snatched the crown as PAGCOR's principal money generators. These segments brought in an impressive PHP14.32 billion in Q1 2025, accounting for a whopping 56% of the total gaming pie. Casinos, both licensed and directly run by PAGCOR, netted a combined PHP11.2 billion.
The overall revenue soared to PHP28.07 billion ($502.9 million), representing an 11.2% increase compared to the same period last year. Most of that dough - PHP25.53 billion - came from gaming operations and license fees.
Curing the Spending Addiction
The good news doesn't stop there - expenses slid from PHP7.36 billion last year to PHP6.22 billion this quarter, translating to a 15.5% reduction. Meanwhile, net income shot up to PHP4.22 billion, rising a neat 23% year-on-year.
PAGCOR's Chairman and CEO, Alejandro H. Tengco, attributed this success to a focus on financial restraint. As he declared, "This impressive growth underlines PAGCOR's dedication to responsible management and tightened fiscal discipline."
For the Greater Good
Beyond balancing the books, PAGCOR also boosted its contributions to various nationwide initiatives. The Q1 contributions totaled PHP18.9 billion, marking an impressive 21.5% rise from 2024.
Compelled by law, the agency is required to funnel a portion of its earnings to the government for social programs, infrastructure, and other public sector endeavors. Tengco emphasized that this growing contribution underscores PAGCOR's unwavering role in fostering "nation-building."
