Obsidian Security Expands Operations in Asia Pacific Region Through Australia as Base

In a significant move to bolster cybersecurity efforts in the Asia Pacific region, Obsidian Security has announced its strategic expansion. With Australia serving as the regional hub, the company aims to accelerate the adoption of SaaS security for businesses across the region.

Tom Tokic, appointed as the Asia Pacific Regional Executive, and Andrew Latham, the Asia Pacific Senior Sales Engineer, bring over 20 years of cybersecurity experience to the table. Based in Canberra and Sydney respectively, they are actively investing in the Australian market, ready to lead Obsidian's expansion across the region.

The focus on SaaS security is timely, as Australian businesses may unknowingly expose sensitive data due to implicit trust in Software as a Service (SaaS) providers. The shared responsibility model in SaaS can pose a huge risk to both business and individual data, making it a new frontline for cyber threats.

Glenn Chisholm, Obsidian's Australian co-founder and former Telstra Chief Information Security Officer, emphasizes the strong focus of Australian businesses on cyber security. He highlights the increasing importance of SaaS applications in this context.

Obsidian Security offers a solution to this issue by automating SaaS security posture management and compliance. The company shields SaaS applications from identity threats, third and fourth-party integrations, and data movement risks.

Some of Australia's largest healthcare, financial, and telecommunication providers already use Obsidian Security to protect their critical cloud-based applications. The company's latest investment in Australia is aimed at further strengthening this support for regional businesses.

To enhance this support, Obsidian has launched a local partner program in Australia with foundation partners CyberCX, Baidam, and The Missing Link. This partnership will help Obsidian Security expand its regional presence and accelerate SaaS security deployments.

The expansion of Obsidian Security is expected to enhance support for many leading enterprises in the Asia Pacific region, ensuring a secure and compliant digital future for businesses and individuals alike.
