The Oakman Group, a renowned hospitality company, has announced the acquisition of The Woburn Hotel in Woburn, Bedfordshire. The historic property, which is conveniently located near Luton Airport and the commercial center of Milton Keynes, will be the 34th and largest property in the Oakman Group's portfolio.

The Woburn Hotel, an 18-century property with 48 luxury bedrooms, seven individual cottages, three conference and events spaces, a restaurant, and a large bar, was closed last year due to Government restrictions. However, under the new ownership of the Oakman Group, the hotel is set to reopen on May 17, when indoor dining is permitted under the Government's proposed hospitality roadmap.

The acquisition comes after the Oakman Group's acquisition of The Seafood Pub Company. The Oakman Group is known for its historical coaching inns and remarkable buildings, and they are now looking to expand their capacity further. Dermot King, Chief Executive Officer of the Oakman Group, stated that the acquisition of The Woburn Hotel represents another major step in delivering the Oakman Group's vision for the business.

Peter Borg-Neal, The Oakman Group Chairman, expressed his delight at being entrusted with the property. He mentioned his past connection with Woburn, which is home to Woburn Abbey, Woburn Safari Park, an internationally famous golf club, and a Centre Parcs. Mr. Borg-Neal stated that he is looking forward to working with the local community and the Bedford Estates, with whom they have signed a 25-year lease.

His Grace, the Duke of Bedford, expressed confidence in The Oakman Group's ability to safeguard the hotel's historic values and deliver a contemporary and hospitable offering. He highlighted the hotel's history as a significant aspect of its appeal and expressed his belief that the Oakman Group will maintain its charm while modernising the facilities.

The Oakman Group is also developing its ability to provide compelling 'stay-cation' packages and ensure they meet the needs of business travelers. As part of this effort, they are in the process of recruiting and aim to create 60 new jobs. The hotel's strategic position in Bedfordshire makes it a suitable venue for both leisure and business travelers, offering easy access from the M1 and a substantial level of amenity.

The Woburn Hotel's acquisition follows a series of successful ventures for the Oakman Group, and they are optimistic about the future of the property. With their reputation for building strong and mutually beneficial relationships with local communities and estates, the Oakman Group is poised to make a positive impact in Woburn. The reopening of The Woburn Hotel is eagerly anticipated by both locals and travelers alike.
