Nissan Canada Introduces Home Electric Vehicle Charging Program in Collaboration with Wallbox and RocketEV

In a growing trend among automakers, making home charging more accessible and convenient for electric vehicle (EV) owners is becoming a priority. Two notable examples of this trend are the home charging programs offered by Nissan Canada and Ford Power Promise Program.

Nissan Canada has partnered with Wallbox and RocketEV Charging Solutions to launch a home charging program. The program applies to both new and existing owners of the Nissan LEAF and ARIYA, starting this month. While the program does not offer free chargers or installation, it does provide home charging solutions with professional installation services provided by RocketEV, and advanced smart charging features via the Wallbox platform.

The Wallbox Pulsar Plus charger, a Level 2 home charger designed for various residential settings, is available for purchase as part of the program, priced at C$925. This charger supports faster charging compared to standard 120V outlets and includes smart features that allow users to monitor and schedule charging sessions.

In comparison, Ford Power Promise Program offers a complimentary home charger (Ford Charge Station Pro) with standard home installation performed by authorized installers like RocketEV in Canada. The program is available to qualifying customers who purchase or lease select 2024 or 2025 Ford electric vehicles. The installation generally covers up to 80 feet of visible wiring and requires a residential property with a dedicated electrical meter.

Customers can book installation services for the Wallbox Pulsar Plus charger through participating dealerships or the Nissan Canada website. Ford partners with RocketEV Charging Solutions to provide certified home charger installations, which can include a digital home charging assessment for qualifying standard installations.

Both programs demonstrate automakers are providing integrated home charging solutions that reduce barriers to EV adoption by combining complimentary or incentivized hardware, professional installation, and smart charging technology, tailored to their customer experience and vehicle ecosystem needs. This trend is making home charging more attractive to EV buyers, with many other automakers, such as Ford, offering free chargers, installation, or both as part of their EV programs.

  1. Nissan Canada's home charging program, in conjunction with Wallbox and RocketEV Charging Solutions, offers advanced smart charging features for the Nissan LEAF and ARIYA, providing professional installation services and a Level 2 home charger.
  2. Ford Power Promise Program, on the other hand, provides a complimentary home charger, the Ford Charge Station Pro, with standard home installation as part of its offerings to qualifying customers who purchase or lease select 2024 or 2025 Ford electric vehicles.
  3. Both Nissan and Ford programs align with the growing trend in the automotive industry, where automakers are integrating home charging solutions to lower electric vehicle adoption barriers by offering complementary or incentivized hardware, professional installation, and smart charging technology.
  4. Electric vehicle buyers are increasingly attracted to these home charging options as many other car manufacturers, like Ford, are offering free chargers, installation, or both as part of their electric vehicle programs, enhancing their lifestyle and car-maintenance experience with gadgets and technology.
  5. The integration of smart-home-devices such as chargers, energy management, and finance components into the EV industry is transforming the lifestyle of consumers, particularly in the realm of energy efficiency and the adoption of electric vehicles and other clean energy gadgets and cars, like electric vehicles and cars requiring car-maintenance that benefit from energy-saving practices.
