New York State Fair rescinds contract with recently appointed vendor for the Empire Room, a move made after only a few months.
In a recent development, the New York State Fair has announced the termination of its contract with Bluestone Grub & Go for the management of the Empire Room. This decision comes after Bluestone Grub & Go seemed unprepared to handle its food and beverage service obligations during the recent fair.
The Empire Room, along with several other venues such as the Empire Theater, Martha Eddy Room, Wegmans Demo Kitchen, Somerset Room, and the Broadway Bistro, will now be managed directly by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets. The department will also be responsible for the food and beverage services at the Wegmans Art & Home Center.
Bluestone Grub & Go is affiliated with Legacy Hospitality & Entertainment Group, a company known for its operations in multiple states, including New York, where it has at least eight locations. These include outlets in the Elmira Airport's lounge, golf club dining spots in Chenango County and in Buffalo, a pool venue in Newburgh in the Hudson Valley, and the Montauk Lighthouse on Long Island.
Legacy Hospitality & Entertainment Group also operates or is developing facilities in various locations across New York City, such as a restaurant and event venue in Manhattan's Bryant Park, and a skating rink in Brooklyn's Prospect Park. The group also has a significant presence in other states, with locations in New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, California, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, and Washington state.
The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets will be working with an approved list of caterers to provide food and beverage services at the Empire Room and other venues. This decision aligns with the overall broader vision for the future of the Wegmans Art & Home Center.
The termination of the contract with Bluestone Grub & Go is a result of careful consideration of current needs and objectives. The decision was made to ensure the best possible experience for visitors at the New York State Fair. The fair is a division of the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, and it aims to showcase the best of New York's agriculture, food, and culture.
This change in management is expected to bring improvements to the food and beverage services at the Empire Room and other venues at the New York State Fair. Visitors can look forward to a more seamless and enjoyable experience during future fairs.
